Grand Rapids Players is a 501c3, non-profit working board, founded in 1965.
We are volunteers building a stronger community through performing arts. Active on stage, behind the scenes, and in our community.
Our Mission: To entertain, inspire and enrich our community through artistic outreach, partnerships, education and live performances.
Our Vision: We strive to be a professionally run organization that provides exceptional theatrical performances and opportunities for engagement by every member of our diverse community. We cultivate talent, create meaningful partnerships, and continually reach out to our constituents encouraging their involvement as patrons, leaders, participants, performers and investors.
We CARE.
C.A.R.E. stands for Cultural Awareness, Responsiveness, and Equity. Those are the pillars the committee stands on. The CARE Committee is made up of a team of individuals who focus on creating a theater experience for all members of our community and beyond. We want to ensure that we are using theater to build community and not divide it. The CARE Committee has the goal of building awareness within our organization and the community around conversations of equity, cultural responsiveness, and inclusion.
The committee is involved in decisions about play selection to make sure the choice is one that will provide a positive experience for all members, no matter their background, race or ethnicity, image, and more. We also have dialogue with external organizations to promote our mission and learn about how we can better serve our organization and community. The CARE Committee works to make sure everyone working on a Players show is comfortable, supported, and heard in all aspects of the show process. The committee is always looking for ways to promote a more equitable theater opportunity for all who want to be involved.
We are delighted to costume our community– we’ve helped to costume area high schools, home school groups, churches, individuals, and more. Our extensive wardrobe collection has been decades in the making and we hold it as a true treasure of partnership to serve our community.
