MACT

From Grand Marais to Pipestone, from Detroit Lakes to Lanesboro, all over this great state, citizens recognize the benefits that the arts bring to them and their communities. They recognize that value through their continued support for the arts, through membership, attendance and even authorizing a statewide sales taxes to benefits the arts.

For over 50 years, MACT has been proud to support and promote the arts and the theatre community throughout the state of Minnesota through festivals, workshops and other events. But we generally lose money on our events. Your membership is critical to MACT’s long term ability to continue providing those services.

Membership in MACT is open to every individual, every theatre and any theatre related organization. MACT membership is divided into three categories:

• Theatre Members
  • While our emphasis is on serving community theatres, any theatre can join MACT and enjoy the benefits of being a MACT member. Theatres may include middle school, high school, college and university theatre programs, community theatres and professional and semi-professional theatre organization.
  • Theatre member benefits include:
    • We will visit your website or Facebook page weekly to make sure your event listings on our website and in our newsletter are up-to-date.
      • Performances and Auditions will be listed in our on-line calendar.
      • Performances and Auditions will be included in our newsletter. Our newsletter goes out weekly to a list of just under 500 addresses and included the upcoming 2 weeks of events. (Subscribers can choose to receive the newsletter weekly, bi-monthly or monthly and have it include 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or a month of events.)
    • Every month we will feature an article in our newsletter and on our website about one MACT member theatre.
    • Discounts on our festivals, workshops and other events.
    • Community theatres have the ability to present a show at MACT*Fest, our biennial adjudicated festival of 60-minute plays. (This benefit is only available to community theatres as defined by the AACT rules.) MACT*Fest is your theatre’s entry point into the AACTFest festival cycle. Two shows from our festival will advance to the Region V AACTFest. At least one show from the Region V Festival will advance to the national AACTFest. Shows at AACTFest are often invited to participate in various international festivals.
    • Supporting the theatre community in Minnesota.
    • Membership is reasonably priced and based on your annual budget:
      • If your annual budget is less that $25,000, your theatre’s dues are just $50 per year
      • If your annual budget is at least $25,000 and less than $50,000, your theatre’s dues are just $60 per year
      • If your annual budget is more than $50,000, your theatre’s dues are just $70 per year
• Individual Members
  • Any individual can be a member of MACT. Individual’s benefits include:
    • Discounts on MACT*Fest (in odd numbered years) and FAST*Fest (in even numbered years) registrations.
    • Discounts on workshops and other events presented by MACT.
    • Supporting the theatre community in Minnesota.
    • Membership is reasonably priced:
      • First time MACT members, Seniors (age 65 and over) and Students (in K-12 schools, colleges & universities) dues are just $15 per year.
      • Regular membership is only $25 per year.
• Other Members
  • If you are part of a corporation or other organization that provides products and/or services to the theatre community, your organization is eligible to be a member of MACT. Some examples of the types of organization that may join MACT:
    • Lighting, sound and expendables suppliers.
    • Web host, design and/or maintenance services.
    • Costume and make-up suppliers.
    • Professional services providers (legal, accounting, etc.)
    • Facility design, build, maintenance and repair services.
    • Any other company that works with or provides products and/or services to theatre organizations.
  • Benefits for Other Members include:
    • Links on MACT’s website to your website
    • Supporting the theatre community in Minnesota
    • Discounts of MACT products and services
      • Festival registrations
      • Website advertising
      • Playbill advertising at festivals
      • Vendor tables at festival
      • Sponsorship opportunities
      • Workshops
  • Memberships start at only $50 and go up from there. The discounts described above go up with different levels of support.

MACT is a statewide, volunteer run organization which holds meetings, workshops, festivals and other events throughout the state of Minnesota. Its mission is:

• to promote standards of excellence in theatrical endeavors in Minnesota communities;
• to encourage, channel and facilitate the exchange of ideas among theatres to better foster their growth and improvement; and
• to encourage the theatre arts through educational devices such as workshops, festivals, contests, conferences and other means.

For over 50 years, the funds provided by your membership have allow us to fulfill our mission of support for the theatre community in Minnesota. With your support, we hope to continue that mission for another 50 years and more. Please support our efforts by becoming a member.
