If you are reading this Sunday night, there is one day left to register your show in MACT*Fest 2025. If you are reading this on Monday, the deadline if before midnight tonight. Registrations must be received by us by December 16 at 11:59 pm. (e-mail submissions are accepted.) If all 12 performance slots are not filled, we will allow late registrations, at a higher registration fee, until all 12 slots or filled or until January 16, which ever comes first.
On Thursday afternoon of this week, the MACT*Fest Committee will meet to set the performance and rehearsal schedule for the festival. We will be holding a drawing to fill the performance slots. We will fill the last performance slot on Saturday night first and work backwards until all theatres have been assigned a performance slot or we run out of performance slots (12). We then have the right to make adjustments to this performance order to accommodate the needs of the festival. For example, if there is a performance session that will have three shows in it, and there is a show that is shorter than the others, we may adjust the schedule to put the shorter show into the performance session that will have three shows, to keep the overall time of that session down. Likewise, we may choose to put any show that is not family friendly into an evening performance session. These decisions will be at the sole discretion of the MACT*Fest Committee.
Later that afternoon or on Friday morning, we will let each of the theatres that are presenting shows know when their rehearsal and performance slots are. The theatres will then have one week to swap performance and/or rehearsal slots with another theatre. Any such swap must also be approved by the MACT*Fest committee.
If there are less than 10 shows registered, performances will start Friday afternoon. If there are 10 shows, performance may start as early as Thursday night. If there are 12 shows, performances may start as early as Thursday afternoon, but will start at least as early as Thursday night. At 12 shows, rehearsals could start as early as Wednesday afternoon.
Duluth is going to be a fun place for our festival. This will likely be the largest festival we’ve had in several festival cycles. The MACT*Fest committee is working hard to make this a great festival for presenting theatres, casts, crews and other festival attendees. Mark March 7-9, 2025 on your calendars for MACT*Fest ’25 at the Depot Theatre in Duluth. Hotel and other information will be available soon.
