Auditions for Silent Sky
book by Lauren Gunderson
Set in the early 20th century, this inspiring drama tells the true story of the astronomer Henrietta Leavitt. It explores the struggles and triumphs of a woman whose passion for astronomy challenged societal expectations and changed the way we understand the universe.
All auditions will include a short, modern monologue (memorization preferred) and readings from the script (sides will be available in advance).
Please note that, currently, all roles at Theatre in the Round are volunteer; however, all actors will be provided a new professional headshot, with rights to use digitally or printed. We understand and respect that not everyone is able to commit to a show for no payment.
Except as noted, roles are open to actors of all identities – racial, ethnic, sexual, gender – and no roles assume the presence or absence of disability.
NOTE: although this is not pivotal to the character or the story, both Henrietta and Annie are characters that have hearing loss, Actors who are hard of hearing are strongly encouraged to audition. Accommodations can be provided upon request.
