Former deep sea divas Coral and Oceana didn’t exactly have the “happily ever after” storybook lives that the two erstwhile mermaids dreamed of when they rescued their handsome young sailors and swam ashore 30 years ago. Talk about unhappy endings! Coral’s sailor, Fernando, took off with her treasure and returned home to his wife and four kids in Venezuela! Oceana’s dreamboat, Hans, hit the road with her treasure to live happily ever after with his boyfriend, Juergen, in Norway! When Coral and Oceana learn of a mermaid rescue involving a young Coast Guard Lieutenant whose car went off a nearby bridge, they dive into action to find the young, innocent mermaid and warn her about the perils and pitfalls of falling in love with mortal men who abscond with your gems, leaving you penniless with a broken heart and two skinny legs. Helped by their cousin Marina, who was unceremoniously dumped by the Captain when her treasure finally ran out, the three middle-aged former sea goddesses try to convince the young mermaid, Pearl, to hightail it back to the sea. But love, being what it is, gives Pearl some ideas of her own. Foolish Fishgirls and The Pearl is a feisty fairy tale about a mermaid’s life on dry land after true love is found, lost, and found again. And, like Coral, Oceana and Marina, you may find that “happily ever after” is closer than you think!

book by Greg Kotis music by Mark Hollmann lyrics by Mark Hollman & Greg Kotis In this triumphant and uproarious musical send-up, a terrible water shortage has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets in a Gotham-like city. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he’s had enough. A hilariously funny and touchingly honest satire on the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, corporate mismanagement, and musical theatre itself, Urinetown provides a fresh and timely addition to one of America’s greatest art forms.

Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry her prince and help Lady Larkin and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. For after all, a princess is a delicate thing.

book by Sandy Rustin (based on the film by Jonathan Lynn) Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

The Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT) is a statewide, volunteer run organization. We hold meetings, workshops, festivals and other events throughout the state of Minnesota.

MACT operates on a two year cycle.  In even numbered years we put on FAST*Fest, a non-adjudicated festival of 20-minute plays.  In odd numbered years we produce MACT*Fest, which is an adjudicated festival of 60-minute plays which is part of the AACTFest cycle.  Along with the performances at our festivals there are workshops and networking events.
