The Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT) received a grant from MRAC to produce a series of three or four workshop events in the 7-county metro area. We are currently planning those workshop events. We are looking for workshop presenters. Here’s some basic information regarding what we are looking for and the time frame.
We are looking for workshops topics that are of general interest to theatre practitioners. (Topics of interest to theatre administration, board and production staff, not audience or actors.)
- Special consideration will be given to workshops on accessibility issues.
- Workshop topics might include (any and all topic suggestions are welcome): Sensory Friendly Theatre; Cast & Audience Accessibility; Diversifying Your Cast & Board; Working with Special Needs Actors; Managing Rehearsals; Creative Movement; Youth Theatre; Improv; Wireless Mics; LED lighting; Board Fiscal Responsibilities; Considering a Land Acknowledgment; Using Video Projections, etc.
- Each workshop event will be held on Saturdays between April 1 and May 19. (Actual dates to be determined by facility and presenter availability.)
- Workshops would not be repeated on the same date, so four workshops will be needed for each day.
- Your workshop may be presented at more than one workshop event.
- Workshops should be close to but not more than 2 hours long.
- We are planning two concurrent workshops for each morning and two more the afternoon.
- At this time we have no idea how many people might attend each workshop.
Possible schedule for the day:
- 9:00 am open for setup
- 9:30 check-in begins
- 10:00 – 12:00 two concurrent workshops
- 12:00 – 1:30 lunch/social/discussion
- 1:30 – 3:30 two concurrent workshops
- 4:00 done
Workshop presenters may suggest more than one workshop topic. Please use a separate form for each workshop topic.
MACT will provide:
- $300 per workshop topic for development/preparation of the workshop
- $200 per workshop presented (The same workshop may be presented at multiple workshop events, but not at both the morning and afternoon sessions of the same event.)
- Round trip mileage reimbursement from the presenters’ home to the workshop location (based on Google maps shortest route)
- lunch at the workshop event
If you have a workshop topic that you are interested in presenting, please complete the questionnaire here.
If you know of a someone else that might have a workshop topic to present, please pass this questionnaire on to that person.
Feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.
Please respond ASAP. Time is of the essence. We hope to have the workshop events booked by March 2nd.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
