MACT sends out emails on both a regular basis (our newsletter) and as needed (MACT and AACT news). You can control what information you want to receive from us by controlling which of our three email lists you subscribe to. The purpose of this article if to tell you what those three lists are used for and how you can control which of the three lists you are on.
When we moved from our older email service (Vertical Response) to our new system (The Newsletter Plugin on our WordPress website), we were able to better segregate our email list. To start with, we set all of our then current email subscribers to being subscribed to all three email lists. That was equivalent to what emails you received under the old system. Since most of our current subscribers came from the old system, most of you were automatically setup for all three lists.
When new subscribers use our on-line form to subscribe to our email service they can select the lists they want to receive emails from. By default, they are subscribed to all three lists, but they can choose what list(s) they want to subscribe to. At the bottom of the subscription form, right above the “Subscribe” button, they will see the three list names with check boxes next to them. By default, all three boxes are checked. New subscribers can uncheck the box for any list they do not want to receive emails from.
For current subscribers, you can control which lists you are subscribed to in two ways. At the bottom of each email we send out, there is a section with three options as shown below:
If you click on “Unsubscribe” you will be unsubscribed from all three email lists. You will be asked to confirm that you really want to unsubscribe. We hope this is not what you want!
To select which of the three lists you want to unsubscribe from, choose the center option, “Manage your subscription”. Your “Newsletter Subscriber Profile Page” should come up with your information filled in. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, the three lists should be there with check-boxes next to each list name. You will receive emails from the lists that have their checkbox checked (a blue box with a white check-mark in it). Clicking on any of the check-boxes will toggle their checked state. After making any changes, remember to click on the “Save” button to save your changes.
As the name implies, the “Mini MACT*Facts Newsletter” list gets send our newsletters. We will go over controlling the frequency and content of the newsletter you receive in part 2 of “Managing your MACT subscriptions”.
The “AACT News” list gets information on AACT (the American Association of Community Theatre). This will include information on the national festival (AACTFest), the regional festival for Region V (North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri), other state and regional festivals, AACT free workshops and other AACT news.
Subscribers to the “MACT Festivals and other news” list will, as the name implies, receive information regarding MACT’s festivals, workshops and other events. Much, but not all, of this information may also be included in the newsletter.
We strive to provide you with the information you want and not overburden you with things that are not of interest to you. One of the ways we do this is using the three lists described above. We offer you the chance to control, to at least some extent, the number of emails you receive from us by choosing which lists you would like to receive information from.
