Auditions for Macbeth

Lake Nokomis Presbyterian Church 1620 E 46th St, Minneapolis, MN 55407, USA

For the Fall production, something wicked this way comes when CLFTC presents William Shakespeare’s Scottish tragedy of “Macbeth,” to be co-directed by Greg Bastien and Noreen K. Brandt. Three witches foretell that Macbeth will become King of Scotland. Motivated by his ambitious wife, Macbeth murders the current king, and begins a bloody reign.

Auditions will be Monday and Tuesday, August 26-27, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The cast requires 10 men and 10 women, ages 16 to 75.

The production will play three weekends, Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm, November 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

A brave Scottish general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the Scottish throne for himself. He is then wracked with guilt and paranoia. Forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion, he soon becomes a tyrannical ruler. The bloodbath and consequent civil war swiftly take Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of madness and death.
