Auditions for A Goblin's Christmas Carol

Encore Performing Arts Center 2035 Hwy 33 South Cloquet, MN 55720

by Charles Dickens
adapted by Kenneth L. Chumbley

Directed by Jodi Hodgson

Early in his career, Charles Dickens wrote a short piece he called, “The Story of the Goblins Who Stole a Sexton.” In 1836, he used it in The Pickwick Papers (ch. 29), and in 1843, he used it as the basis for A Christmas Carol: his goblins story and A Christmas Carol both occur on Christmas Eve, both involve the redemption of a wretched, loveless man, and both involve metaphysical intervention. It is a retelling of Dicken’s short story that has all the themes that made A Christmas Carol a classic.
