by Charles Dickens

Directed by Jodi Hodgson
Early in his career, Charles Dickens wrote a short piece he called, “The Story of the Goblins Who Stole a Sexton.” In 1836, he used it in The Pickwick Papers (ch. 29), and in 1843, he used it as the basis for A Christmas Carol: his goblins story and A Christmas Carol both occur on Christmas Eve, both involve the redemption of a wretched, loveless man, and both involve metaphysical intervention. It is a retelling of Dicken’s short story that has all the themes that made A Christmas Carol a classic.
