Seeking homes for MACT*Fest ’27 and Region V AACTFest ’27

While the dust may still be settling from the last festival cycle, we are already busy planning MACT*Fest 2027 and the Region V AACTFest 2027. Here’s your chance to highlight your theatre and community to an audience from around the state, region and beyond.

We are in the process of soliciting Requests for Proposals for hosting MACT*Fest 2027 in February or early March of 2027 and the Region V AACTFest in early April of 2027. (Also note that AACTFest 2027 – the national festival – will be at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, MN in June of 2027.) We expect interest in participating in MACT*Fest 2027 to be high, since all three levels of the festival cycle will be in Minnesota (as they were in 2017).

For MACT*fest, we are looking for a host theatre with a week available in late January, February or early March. We need a house of at least 250, and preferably more than 300. The facility must have rooms available for the silent auction (securable area), several (2 or 3) concurrent workshops and a room for the adjudicators between shows. The stage must have enough room for at least 3 staging areas of 100 square feet (usually as a 10 by 10 foot box), plus the performing area. Lighting must include at least 6 areas with separately controlled warm and cool lights. There should also be one or more hotels nearby that can accommodate our group (50+ rooms). We will need places to host several “networking events” (i.e. parties), as well as the Sunday morning awards brunch.

Facility requirements are similar for the Region V AACTFest. Region V includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. We would expect 6 or 7 shows from around the region to participate in the festival. We need a host theatre with a Thursday through Saturday available one of the first two weekends in April of 2027. The house should hold at least 150, and preferably more than 200. The facility must have rooms available for workshops and a room for the adjudicators between shows. We will need places to host several “networking events” (i.e. parties), as well as the Saturday night or Sunday morning awards presentation. We would prefer this facility to be in southern Minnesota to minimize travel distances for the participating theatres, but we will certainly consider other facilities.

We would like to make decisions on both of these festival locations before December. We will need time to tour the facility before we make our final selection, so let us know by October 1st if you are interested in hosting either of these festivals. If you are interested in potentially hosting either of these festivals, or if you would like more information, contact MACT at WebmasterMACT@gmail.com or AdmAsstMACT@gmail.com.
